Angry MPs united in criticism of Atos
In a powerful debate in Parliament which united politicians from all parties, private contractor Atos, which administers the Government’s Work Capability Assessments (WCA), came under sustained criticism from MPs who gave shocking examples of appalling treatment of people with disabilities, including constituents who had died shortly after being ruled fit for work by the firm.
DWP speaks different language
In her new book: We are not benefit scroungers, Cambridge graduate Stef Benistead, 23, writes: ‘There is a massive difference between the way people talk about their problems and the way the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) interprets what they say, it’s like they are talking two different languages.’
