Archbishop condemns welfare changes
The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby has backed an open letter from bishops criticising Government plans to limit rises in working-age benefits and some tax credits to 1% for three years and warned that changes to the benefit system could drive children and families into poverty. He said society had a duty to support the “vulnerable and in need”.
Call for five year freeze
The Government should freeze the level of public spending for five years and spend the money saved on cutting taxes and the deficit, former cabinet minister Liam Fox will say in a speech today.
Babes and Guys fundraiser
A bring and buy sale in aid of Gloucestershire-based support group Fibro, ME/CFS Babes and Guys will take place in Minchinhampton from noon to 3pm on Saturday 23 March.
